POLL: Who will the Kraken take?
I'm guessing Zucker. he has the highest ceiling of any of the players
POLL: Who will the Kraken take?
I really think it's gonna be ZAR. Good analytics, cheap contract, and allows them to spend more on the top half of their forward group.

Do the Pens have any picks to pay them to take Tanev?
POLL: Who will the Kraken take?
They'd be dumb not to take Tanev imo

I don't think there's an easy answer here...
Every fan base looks at this in a vacuum...but there's so much more at play here. Like, look at my mock...I picked Angello from us because I didn't want salary and I needed RHS with a goal scoring touch...you don't know how it's gonna go in terms of the actual team build...

it's fine, they are more than welcome to be dumb and not take Tanev
POLL: Who will the Kraken take?
Can't they just take the best available player and trade for whatever they need later? Obviously, they can't take 31 goalies, but will they split the hair on handedness when looking to fill 4C?I don't think there's an easy answer here...

That's possible...but all energy is potential until it's kinetic in this case...you have free agency and, to a far lesser extent, a draft that's about to hit all at once...you're in a flat cap situation...claiming Zucker because he's the most talented player and thinking you can just move that contract just because is just not founded in reality...
Tanev, that's a lot of term too, smarter GMs are realizing that those guys don't last forever (look at how many really old players were on these Lightning teams)...
It's hot potato with contracts right now...you don't want to be left holding the bag. Unless you have a firm deal in place before the draft, you can't assume you're not gonna be left holding the bag on these guys...and worse if you end up picking up a no-trade clause or something along the way...
It's not that easy to get out of money right now...
Like, I might consider taking Pettersson over Zucker...Francis is big on having 8 and 9 NHL caliber d-men, there's a scenario where that's a more valuable asset to him than Zucker...I don't like a lot of money on the wings personally, especially for non-impact players...you could argue, in some respects, Pettersson is the most likely and most valuable piece in Francis's eyes...

Take 31 goalies. :swoon:

I'm gonna say ZAR. He's cheap, young, decent stats. I'd like them to take Zucker. He's expendable in my opinion and hasn't done nearly enough to justify the cap dollars. But again, other GMs are smart too. They don't want underperforming players with high-ish dollar contracts.

I think the more interesting question is: who do you want the Krakheads to take?

also also, this is how the draft is going to happen
I'm not really sure what this is going to look like exactly but this feels like a missed opportunity for both the NHL and ESPN. There isn't really anything happening sports-wise Wednesday. Throw it on ESPN1 and make it a huge production. Start inundating ESPN viewers with hockey talk to get them interested and aware of the goings onThe expansion draft will take place on Wednesday. The Kraken will submit their list of chosen players to the league and NHLPA in the morning, and the picks will be publicized beginning at 7 p.m. Coverage of the draft will air on ESPN 2 in the United States.

Watching drafts is just tough for me to justify these days...
I read somewhere that guys like Gary Payton and Marshawn Lynch are going to be announcing some of the picks...maybe Frasier Crane can get his giant pumpkin head off of a table full of blow to announce one too...

I said ZAR because I think there are too many better forwards with more upside and a better contract than zucker, same with D than pettersson, and i think they'd rather take on good players on bad contracts for the top 6 and young cheap upside for the bottom 6 so tanev doesn't make sense.
