Trump will probably hand over the USPS to Amazon before his term is up, so the documentary fee is just a down payment.

Only $19.99 a month to get your garbage mail, oh you don't want some of that garbage mail, well then it's $24.99AuthorTony wrote: ↑Thu Feb 20, 2025 3:38 pm Trump will probably hand over the USPS to Amazon before his term is up, so the documentary fee is just a down payment.

Without wanting to get into the political aspects, Bezos strikes me as very much nouveau riche. He comes from a lower-middle class background (both his parents were teenagers when he was born), but he built one of the most successful and ubiquitous enterprises in human history. He should be lauded as an inspirational and aspirational figure, but instead he runs around trying to show how cool he is.
Blue Origin, WaPo, LOTR, Bond, now the Trump thing........... It's what billionaires do instead of buying gold rims and bejeweled toilet seats. It feels like he's trying to prove a point by spending this money and over-paying for stuff so farcically.

Let's give Nick Frost the Bond role and be done with it. I feel like Bezos does try to be faithful to source material, he just has poor taste and execution. What the hell do I know though

Now that I'm thinking about it, Nolan may get his chance to direct a bond movie now...

That might actually get me to see a Rock movie considering he’s played the same character for 20 years now
edit: 19* years. Doom came out in 2005

Eh. I love the Rock. I really don’t like Dwayne Johnson.

Without veering further away, didn't his parents have like 200,000 or 300,000k to loan him up top? I don't know the specifics of how that came about, but that doesn't necessarily scream lower-middle class. Agree about everything else.tifosi77 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 20, 2025 4:33 pm Without wanting to get into the political aspects, Bezos strikes me as very much nouveau riche. The one thing I'm dreading are the inevitable origin stories. I saw a great point yesterday that one of the things that makes Bond Bond is that the bad guys are merely obstacles to his mission. I don't want or need to know about how Jaws ended up with metal teeth.

Goldfinger? Excellent opportunity for an MCU crossover to see how he got that gold finger.

I read a Q origin story could be something as well. But which Q?
What about a complete reset to 1962? That could be interesting, and make it closer to the original novels.

With some modern updates and I think this could be really cool. Maybe some use of anachronism and current cultural values and I think that would be awesome. I think the power creep, the weird timeline stuff (see Daniel Craig Bond is new and then really old...), and overall just insanity. I think a time piece would be really what the doctor ordered.DigitalGypsy66 wrote: ↑Fri Feb 21, 2025 10:57 am I read a Q origin story could be something as well. But which Q?

Deadline reporting Amazon paid the Broccoli's over $1 billion to go away. This after paying more than double the market value to acquire MGM. If they're gonna keep shelling out insane money for studios and franchises, at some point they have to make something that doesn't suck, right?

Bezos has like 540 more of those billions. This is literally a pocket $20 to him

Yeah, I mean Skyfall was basically Q origin story already.DigitalGypsy66 wrote: ↑Fri Feb 21, 2025 10:57 am I read a Q origin story could be something as well. But which Q?

I'd agree period piece would at least be interesting. So much modern spy stuff nowadays just has such a super tech-boner that getting back to a bit more cloak-and-dagger (not that Bond was ever really about that) could be a worthwhile time.

I think a retro reset of Bond would be pretty excellent. I'd love to see Bond as a period piece. They don't have to be limited to the timeline of the books, now that Amazon effectively owns the property. Make 'James Bond' a badass naval officer that obtained the intelligence to help the Brits win at Trafalgar, and it is in his honor the codename was adopted thereafter. Or something.

Or what about a James Bond in ancient Rome? Nulla Nulla VII.

Deadpool wolverine was horrible, just an absolutely terrible movie. I don't even know if it was a movie, was this just a bunch of random clips they through together for two hours? Maybe 10 minutes of a plot? Family would not put it on Spanish so two hours of Ryan Reynolds was way too much for me to take. I think I'm back to being completely done with super heroe movies until another batman comes out. Just pure garbage.
